As I sat in the theater at Cinequest in March, I had the opportunity to see the acclaimed documentary "The O Tapes" on the big screen. Starting with the first seen when Adam and Eve were in the garden, the audience gets the fact that 43% of American Women are non orgasmic or will be non orgasimic in their lifetime. That's not a bearable number if you ask me! No wonder Eve had a frown on her face. As the documentatory continues, it weaves through the historical facts and debunks several myths while interjecting humor as a release tool for an intense subject matter. Not only does it handle the subject matter in a provactive and informative way, the characters or women who are questioned within the film run the gambit cross-culturally, ethicnally and age with a variety of responses. One thing was quite in common though, sex and orgasms are taboo with mothers and daughters in general. Another excellent aspect of the film was knowledge. There were several Sex Therapists that particpated in the film and provided valuable knowledge on the "g spot" as well as clitoral and vaginal orgasms. Overall, this is a film everyone should see over 18 years old of course. It empowers women, gives them identification, understanding, and a real opportunity to know they are not alone!
