For hundreds of years, Cheyenne, Comanche, Pawnee, Wichita, and other Native American tribes roamed the plains and hunted for buffalo on the sprawling grasslands in the region we know as Oklahoma. But in the 1800s, the United States government bought up their land and forced the Indians onto reservations.
On April 22, 1889, central Oklahoma was opened for settlement, about 50,000 people had moved in by that evening. In 1890, the United States created the Territory of Oklahoma, then in 1907, Oklahoma became the 46th state and in 2004 Oklahoma was added to Oklahoma Swingers List.
