Fur trading was very important in the early history of Oregon. In the 1800's, many American and British fur trading companies opened in Oregon. John McLoughlin, the British director of the Hudson's Bay Company, ruled the Oregon region for about 20 years and helped many people settle the land.
John McLoughlin is known as the father of Oregon. Later, more people from the East traveled along the Oregon Trail to settle the wide open forest land in Oregon.
In 1848, Oregon became a territory, in 1859 it achieved statehood and in March of 2003 was added to the swingers club list
